Renowned Malayalam poet Vyloppilli Sreedhara Menon’s celebrated poem 'Krishnashtami' is being adapted into a film titled 'Krishnashtami: The Book of Dry Leaves', the film, which is written and directed by Dr. Abhilash Babu, features actor Jeo Baby in the lead role. The movie is set to present a contemporary cinematic interpretation of Vyloppilli’s iconic poem.

Following his previous experimental films 'Aalokam', 'Maayunnu', 'Maarivarayunnu', and 'Nisvaasangalil', Abhilash Babu helms this ambitious project. The music, composed by renowned composer Ouseppachan, will feature lyrics by Abhilash and verses from Vyloppilli's poem.

Apart from Jeo Baby, the film will also feature fresh faces selected through auditions. Abhilash Babu, known for his unique storytelling, has gained recognition with his debut film "Aalokam: Range of Vision" (2023), which showcased five dramatic monologues by famous British poet Robert Browning. The film was screened at international film societies as well as in universities, colleges and literature departments.

His 2024 mockumentary film Maayunnu, Maarivarayunnu, Nisvaasangalil… (Dust Art Redrawn in Respiration) premiered at the 29th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).

The cinematography for his upcoming film is handled by Jithin Matthews, while media promotions are managed by A.S. Dinesh.
