Renowned actor Manisha Koirala, who first visited Bekal three decades ago to portray Shaila Bano (in film Bombay), returned to the region on Monday, taking in the sight of the ceremonial Theyyam performances and receiving blessings before departing in peace.
The actor, accompanied by her mother Sushma Koirala, attended the traditional festivities at the Arattukadavu Kannamkulam Raktheshwari Temple near Palakunnu. They witnessed the ritualistic performances dedicated to deities Vishnumurthy and Raktheshwari, participating in the temple rituals with reverence.
The visit coincided with the 30th anniversary celebrations of the iconic film Bombay and the Bekal-based BRDC. During her visit, Manisha and her family were briefed about the temple’s ritual performances by BRDC MD Shijin Parambath, manager U.S. Prasad, and Jagan.
The temple’s governing body, led by President K. Sukumaran and Secretary T.V. Narayanan, warmly welcomed the actor and her family, ensuring a memorable and serene experience amidst the cultural festivities.
