After weeks of buzz surrounding the sequel to the blockbuster Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, actress Kalyani Priyadarshan confirmed at a recent public event that she will indeed return to the franchise. With a brief but exciting statement, “Yes, I’m part of the film, so wait for it”, she confirmed her presence in the much-anticipated second chapter.

The sequel is currently in the writing stage, with the team planning to begin shooting around September.

Directed by Dominic Arun, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra became a landmark film in Malayalam cinema. Blending folklore, fantasy and emotional storytelling, the film introduced audiences to Chandra, also known as Neeli, a powerful supernatural figure navigating the modern world.

The film stood out for its scale, visual ambition and rare focus on a female superhero. It went on to reportedly cross ₹300 crore worldwide, emerging as one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films ever.

With such historic success, expectations for Lokah Chapter 2 are understandably sky-high and Kalyani’s confirmation has only intensified the excitement.

Who else is in Lokah 2?

Early reports suggest that Tovino Thomas will take on a more prominent role as Michael, the chathan, a character briefly introduced earlier that sparked curiosity among viewers.

Dulquer Salmaan’s character Charlie might also have more screentime.

The sequel is expected to expand the Lokah universe further, diving deeper into its mythological layers while retaining the emotional core that resonated with audiences in the first installment.

What’s next for Kalyani Priyadarshan?

Apart from Lokah Chapter 2, Kalyani also has other projects lined up, including the horror thriller Pralay opposite Ranveer Singh, directed by Jai Mehta.
