Chennai: Music director Ilaiyaraaja has filed a copyright infringement complaint against the Malayalam film ‘Manjummel Boys’, which collected more than Rs 200 crore at the box office. The lawyer sent a notice to the producers pointing out that the song 'Kanmani Anbodu' from the film ‘Gunaa’, music done by Ilaiyaraaja, was included in ‘Manjummel Boys’ without seeking his permission.
The notice said that just because it is mentioned in the title card doesn’t mean that the song can be used. The lawyer's notice has mainly pointed out that copyright infringement has been committed. He has made it clear that either permission should be sought or the song be removed. The notice also states that a legal action will be taken if the compensation is not paid within 15 days.
The story of ‘Manjummel Boys’ revolves around a group of youth who go to Kodaikanal and one in the group gets trapped after falling into a crevice. The movie is based on a true incident. The song 'Kanmani Anbodu' from Gunaa has a pivotal place in ‘Manjummel Boys’.
