In an interview given to national media, South Indian actor-cum-singer Shruti Haasan has revealed how she was overly dependent on alcohol for a brief while in her life. Shruti, who is known for her bold and frank opinions did not shy away from talking about alcohol use disorder. 

“I was enslaved to alcohol for eight years of my life. In those days it was difficult for me to stay sober at parties. However, I don’t have any regrets now. It was just a phase of my life. I am sure several people go through this,” said Shruti.

“I used to love drinking with my friends, but I have never used drugs. Alcohol was indeed a big deal in my life back then. I have had hangovers like hell. Liquor had started gaining control over me, but I am over it now,” concluded the actor.

Shruti had recently acted in Telugu movies ‘Veera Simha Reddy’ and ‘Waltair Veerayya’. She has also done a cameo in Nani’s latest release ‘Hi Nanna’. The actor will be seen opposite Prabhas in the duo’s upcoming movie ‘Salaar’.
