Young music sensation Sai Abhyankkar is on a roll, with anticipation building around his collaborations with several top South Indian stars, including Allu Arjun, Suriya, and Silambarasan (Simbu).

It is already known that Sai has been roped in to compose music for Simbu’s 49th film, directed by Ramkumar Balakrishnan.

“I’m a huge fan of Simbu anna. Whether it’s Thotti Jaya, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu or Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, I love all his work,” Sai said, reflecting a sheer fanboy moment during the Vikatan Nambikkai Awards.

“In our first interaction, I told him, ‘Anna, I want to create the kind of music for you that the masses will lap up—something like in Thotti Jaya.’” the young and dynamic composer added.

“But then, while working with him, I realised he has a great understanding of programming, production, singing, and mixing—everything you could ask for. In fact, he has excellent musical taste and often suggests what will or won’t work. By the end, I realised he’s indeed a brilliant musician,” Sai remarked, admiring Simbu’s multifaceted talent.

Sai Abhyankkar’s words reflect a strong camaraderie with Simbu, hinting at their shared musical vision and creative synergy.

Simbu welcomes Sai Abhyankkar onboard

Taking to his X timeline to greet fans on the occasion of Tamil New Year, Simbu wrote:

“இனிய தமிழ் புத்தாண்டு நல்வாழ்த்துகள் (Sweet Tamil New Year wishes)! Starting this new chapter with music and fresh energy. Welcoming @SaiAbhyankkar on board! #STR49”

The much-awaited film, tentatively titled #STR49, has officially welcomed Sai Abhyankkar as its music composer.

At just 20 years old, Sai Abhyankkar is emerging as one of the most promising names in South Indian music. He shot to fame with his viral independent single ‘Katchi Sera’, which caught the attention of film directors across languages.

Since then, Sai has been signed for several major projects:

  • Pradeep Ranganathan’s next (with Mythri Movie Makers)
  • Shane Nigam’s Malayalam film Balti
  • And Allu Arjun’s upcoming magnum opus, directed by Atlee (working title: AA22XA6)

Now, he takes on the exciting challenge of composing for Simbu’s upcoming film.
