Bison, starring Dhruv Vikram and helmed by ace director Mari Selvaraj, is touted as an action drama and is set to hit theatres on October 17 as a Diwali release. Apart from Dhruv, the film features an ensemble cast including Anupama Parameswaran, Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, and Pasupathy.

Excitement is sky-high as the film approaches its release.

During the pre-release event of Bison, Rajisha — who plays a pivotal role in the film — shared her emotional connection with Mari Selvaraj, one of the most sought-after directors in South Indian cinema. She revealed her deep respect and admiration for the master filmmaker.

Notably, the young actor made her Tamil debut through Selvaraj’s film Karnan, which was headlined by Dhanush and released in 2021.

“After Karnan, he went on to make two more films but didn’t cast me in either. When I asked him about it, he explained that none of the roles were the right fit for me. When you share a strong creative connection with a director, it’s natural to want to continue working together,” Rajisha candidly stated at the event.

Life-threatening incident!

Social media is now abuzz with another major revelation Rajisha made at the event — a near-death experience she faced while filming Bison.

Recalling the terrifying moment, Rajisha said:

“See, I had learnt swimming for a scene in Karnan. And while filming for our latest film Bison, Mari sir told me there’s a scene where I have to jump into the water. Somehow, I was excited for the scene,” the actor recalled.

Continuing, she added:

“It’s been four years since Karnan, and I hadn’t done much swimming during that time. I had actually forgotten how to swim. But I still confidently said I could pull off the scene.”

Then came the harrowing moment:

“Anupama was the first to jump into the water, and I followed — but I started sinking deeper and deeper. I really thought I was going to die. Luckily, I was rescued by the film’s crew,” said the promising young actor.

“And when I eventually caught my breath and opened my eyes, I saw Mari sir — he had jumped into the water fully clothed, wearing his shoes and sunglasses. Anupama and the lifeguards were around me as well,” Rajisha shared emotionally.

She further stated that her love and respect for her favorite director only deepened after that incident.

On accepting her role in Bison

At the event, Rajisha Vijayan also revealed how she landed her role in Bison:

“One day, Mari sir called me again — after a long gap — though a little hesitant, about a role in Bison. He wasn’t sure if I’d be comfortable playing an ‘akka’ (older sister). I told him that whether it’s a mother, sister, or even a supporting role, I’d gladly take on whatever he had in mind for me,” she said.

“Even after signing the film and attending the workshops, I had no idea about the story or my character. I went in with complete trust. I’ve done nearly 30 films, but I don’t think I’ve ever trusted any filmmaker as deeply as I trust Mari sir,” added Rajisha, a true fan of her director.

The exciting behind-the-scenes revelations shared by Rajisha Vijayan have only amplified the hype surrounding Bison. She also mentioned that the film holds something we haven’t seen in Mari Selvaraj’s work so far.

Promising a story that blends kabaddi, family, romance, and socio-political issues, Rajisha declared that Bison is going to be a pure epic! (With inputs from Agencies)
