Suchitra Mohanlal, wife of the legendary Malayalam actor Mohanlal, recently opened up about her views on her husband’s film career and his approach to acting in an interview with Rekha Menon. Suchitra spoke candidly about her honest opinions on films, revealing that while she does not hesitate to express when she dislikes a movie, she fully understands the collaborative nature of filmmaking.
Mohanlal, often referred to as the "icon of Malayalam cinema," is celebrated for his diverse roles and immense contribution to Indian cinema. Recognised as a pan-Indian star, he has earned numerous national and state awards for his outstanding performances.
However, Suchitra acknowledged that like any actor, Mohanlal has been part of films that were not commercially successful or critically appreciated. "If I don’t like a film, I say it. There are several films of his that I just couldn’t digest," Suchitra confessed. She also added that while she does not shy away from sharing her opinion, she understands that filmmaking is a team effort, and it’s not just about one person's choices. "A film is the result of a lot of people's hard work. No one makes a movie with the intention of it being bad," she said.
Suchitra made it clear that she does not intend to diminish the collective effort behind any film, even if she does not personally enjoy it. "It’s not just my opinion that matters; filmmaking is a collaborative process. Everyone involved works hard, and no one ever sets out to make a bad movie," she explained.
This candid reflection from Suchitra not only sheds light on her personal views but also highlights the respect and understanding she has for the industry and the hard work that goes into creating a film, regardless of its success. (With inputs from Agencies)
