The upcoming Malayalam horror family comedy entertainer Prakambanam is set to hit theatres on January 30, with advance bookings now open. The makers describe the film as a blend of humour, thrills and unexpected twists, promising a lively theatrical experience for audiences.

According to the team behind the film, Prakambanam combines laugh-out-loud moments with spine-chilling surprises, offering hidden elements and surprises in almost every scene. The film is designed in a way that encourages repeat viewing, with the creators expressing confidence that it will emerge as a campus favourite capable of drawing young audiences back to cinemas after a long gap.

Set largely against the backdrop of a men’s hostel in Kochi and parts of Kannur, the film explores hostel life infused with horror elements that intrude into otherwise light-hearted and humorous situations. With a mix of comedy downpours and thriller shocks, Prakambanam aims to deliver a distinctive cinematic experience where humour and fear coexist.

The film stars Ganapathi, Sagar Surya and Ameen in lead roles, with Rajesh Madhavan, Sheethal Joseph, Kalabhavan Navas, P P Kunhi Krishnan and Azeez Nedumangad also featuring prominently. The film is directed by Vijesh Panathur and produced by Sreejith KS, Karthikeyan S and Sudheesh N under the banner of Navarasa Films, in association with Stone Bench Studio.

The screenplay and dialogues are penned by Sreehari Vadakkan, while cinematography is handled by Alby Antony. Music is composed by Bibin Ashok, with background score by Sankar Sharma. Editing is by Sooraj E S, production design by Subash Karun, and art direction by Ajith Achuthan. Action sequences are choreographed by Vicky Nandhagopal and Mafiya Sasi.

The technical crew also includes chief associate director Ambrose Varghese, production controller Nandu Poduval, line producer Ananathanarayan, costume designer Sujith Mattanur, makeup artist Jayan Poonkulam, sound designer Kishan Mohan, final mix engineer M R Rajakrishnan, DI by Remesh CP, and VFX by Meraki.

Digital marketing is handled by Obscura Entertainment, with poster design by Yellowtooths and trailer edited by Vikas Alphonse. The film’s PRO duties are managed by Manju Gopinath and Vazhoor Jose.

Prakambanam will be distributed theatrically by Navarasa Release in Kerala, RFT Entertainment overseas (excluding GCC), and Phars Films in GCC countries. The audio rights are held by Think Music.
