Mumbai: Actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja are reportedly heading for a divorce after 37 years of marriage, with the couple believed to have officially decided to part ways. Sources close to the family revealed to E Times that Sunita had sent a separation notice a few months ago, but there has been no progress since then.

The reports suggest that frequent quarrels and differences in their lifestyles may have contributed to the ongoing separation. Rumours have also surfaced alleging that Govinda’s closeness to a 30-year-old Marathi co-star might have played a role in their troubled relationship.

Earlier, in an interview with Hindi Rush, Sunita had revealed that she and Govinda have been living separately for some time now. Sunita lives in an apartment with their children, while Govinda stays in a bungalow on the same street. When questioned by the paparazzi during a visit to Shirdi about their living arrangements, Sunita laughed off the inquiry, saying, “Kisi ki majaal hai joh mujhe Govinda se alag karke dikhaaye. Nobody can separate us. I have a lot of fun with him. There are people who want to break homes more than outsiders. I won’t let anyone break homes. I will win because Baba is with me.”

While Sunita appeared to brush off any concerns about their relationship, new videos from past appearances have resurfaced online, fueling speculation. During an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, Sunita jokingly said that if Govinda had one or two more affairs, it would have been great. These comments have now gained attention in the midst of the ongoing divorce rumours.

Despite her seemingly light-hearted comments, Sunita has admitted feeling insecure about her marriage in recent times. "I used to feel very secure earlier in our marriage, but not anymore," she shared with a laugh. She explained that during Govinda’s busy years, she was never concerned about affair rumours, as his demanding work schedule left little room for such distractions. However, now that Govinda is over 60 and has more free time, Sunita has become more concerned. "When he was younger, he was so busy that he had no time for affairs. But now, I worry because he’s sitting idle – who knows what he might do!" she jokingly added.

Govinda and Sunita have two children together, daughter Narmada (Tina) Ahuja and son Yashvardhan.
