From blockbuster hits in the 1990s to a personal life that unfolded in the public eye, Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor's journey often read like a film script. Now, with the spotlight on the legal battle surrounding her late ex-husband Sunjay Kapur’s staggering ₹30,000 crore estate, attention has also turned to Karisma’s own financial standing, as reported by Times Now.

A marriage and divorce that made headlines

The actress’s personal life became national news when she wed Delhi-based industrialist Sunjay Kapur in 2003, in a glittering ceremony graced by Bollywood’s biggest names. What looked like a fairy-tale union, however, soon unravelled. By 2014, the couple had separated, and in 2016 their marriage ended in a very public divorce, fraught with allegations ranging from domestic strife to dowry demands.

Despite the controversies, Karisma emerged from the settlement financially well-positioned. Reports indicate she received ₹70 crore in cash, bonds worth ₹14 crore earmarked for her children with annual returns, a Mumbai bungalow, and jewellery. The arrangement offered both security and long-term stability for her and family.

Building wealth on her own terms

Karisma’s personal fortune today is estimated at around ₹120 crore, a figure driven largely by her own career choices. At the height of her stardom in the 1990s, she commanded between ₹50–70 lakh per film, huge sums for that era. For ensemble projects such as 'Hum Saath Saath Hain', her fee reportedly touched ₹1 crore.

Beyond films, she made her mark as a brand favourite. Endorsement deals with the likes of Lux, Garnier, McCain and Danone brought in significant revenue, often to the tune of ₹50–60 lakh each. Her enduring influence was recognised in 2012, when Forbes India featured her in its Celebrity 100 list.

A Stylish Life in Mumbai

Post-divorce, the actress settled into an apartment in Khar, Mumbai, just a short distance from her sister Kareena Kapoor Khan. The interiors reflect a blend of glamour and intimacy, with statement mirrors, crystal chandeliers, floral motifs and dark wood accents. Carefully chosen artworks enhance the space, while the balcony opens out to expansive views of the Mumbai skyline. Fans occasionally get a glimpse of this refined setting through her Instagram posts.

Luxury on wheels

Her flair for elegance extends to her cars as well. Over the years, Karisma has been seen driving or arriving in a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Lexus LX470, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes E-Class and Audi Q7. The collection strikes the balance she is known for, sophisticated, stylish and luxurious without tipping into excess.

The Sunjay Kapur Estate battle

Tragedy struck in June 2025 when Sunjay Kapur died suddenly during a polo match in the UK. His passing set off a fierce legal tussle over his estimated ₹30,000 crore estate. While his third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur, currently manages much of it, Karisma’s children have moved to claim their rightful share under the Hindu Succession Act. This battle has once again drawn focus to Karisma’s own wealth and independence.

Glamour with grit

Away from the glare of cameras, Karisma keeps her life remarkably grounded. She devotes her time raising her children and caring for her dog, Chanel. Her memorable performances in films like 'Dil To Pagal Hai 'and 'Biwi No. 1 'earned her a place among Bollywood’s most iconic stars, and her digital debut with 'Mentalhood' showcased her adaptability in a changing entertainment landscape.
