Kochi: The Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) on Tuesday withdrew its earlier decision, which banned the release or premiering of any Malayalam films in theaters from February 22.

FEUOK chairman Dileep said the issues in the cinema sector will be resolved through discussions. At the same time, the union of movie producers informed that they were not ready for any talks with the union.

Theatre owners had earlier announced that no new cinema would be released after February 23 in protest against the union of the film producers’ demands. They had stated that the price of projectors has gone high. So it is not possible to purchase as per the demands of the producers. It also demanded that the OTT release of movies before 42 days be stopped. However, the producers’ union did not take any favourable stance for the FEUOK.

The producers said it is their right to have their films shown on high-end screens, and that FEOUK’s ban is an irresponsible move on its part.

Amid these fights, the theatres are getting filled with viewers for Gireesh AD directed Premalu, Mammootty-starrer Bramayugam, and survival thriller Manjummel Boys. Soon the movies, the release of which were postponed, will also hit the theatres.
