Kochi: The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) has confirmed that actor Shine Tom Chacko admitted to drug use during a recent meeting with the organisation.
FEFKA General Secretary B. Unnikrishnan said the actor has been given a final opportunity to correct his behaviour. He will be allowed to continue in the film industry only if he completely ends his drug habit. The organisation also advised him to undergo treatment for substance abuse.
“We have also informed AMMA that we cannot cooperate with anyone facing similar drug-related issues,” Unnikrishnan added.
He further revealed that actress Vincy Aloshious had approached FEFKA with a complaint, requesting that it remain confidential. “She did not want the matter to be made public,” he said.
FEFKA has advised the actress to submit her grievance formally to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). He also said that FEFKA is with Vincy on the matter. Furthermore, action will be taken against those responsible based on the complaint.
Unnikrishnan said Shine Tom has promised not to repeat his mistakes and has been clearly warned that any future violations will not be tolerated. Meanwhile, FEFKA is planning to launch an awareness campaign against drug abuse in the Malayalam film industry.
