Thiruvananthapuram: Famous violinist B Sasikumar passed away at the age of 74. He breathed his last at his residence in Jagathy on Saturday night. Late violinist Balabhaskar was his nephew.
B Sasikumar had earned a name for himself as an Akashvani artist as well. He had written several divine hymns in Malayalam and Tamil languages. He also wrote plays for Akashvani. B Sasikumar was conferred with several awards including the central government’s Sangeet Natak Akademi award. He is a recipient of Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Akademi fellowship as well.
He is an alumni of Swathi Thirunal College. Sasikumar was born in Thiruvalla in 1949. He was born to couple MK Bhaskara Panicker and G Sarojini Amma.
