Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has come out in support of Ibrahim Ali Khan, who has faced a fair share of criticism following his debut in the Netflix film Nadaaniyan. Ibrahim, the son of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, is now gearing up for his second film, Sarzameen, which stars Kajol in a lead role and is scheduled to premiere on Jio Hotstar on July 25, 2025.

While Nadaaniyan received a lukewarm response from both critics and audiences, Prithviraj believes Ibrahim deserves a fair chance to prove himself. Speaking in an interview with India Today, the veteran actor addressed the scrutiny surrounding Ibrahim’s performance and pointed out that even industry legends face ongoing criticism.

“Even Shah Rukh Khan sir continues to be criticised, so why shouldn’t Ibrahim be?” Prithviraj said. “Where I come from, even icons like Mohanlal sir and Mammootty sir are still subject to criticism. That’s part and parcel of being in this profession.”

Prithviraj went on to praise Ibrahim for his commitment and preparation, describing him as one of the most diligent young actors he has worked with. He highlighted the young actor’s determination, adding that Ibrahim put in considerable effort during the making of Sarzameen.

“Ibrahim is incredibly prepared. The camera absolutely loves him, and he’s a very good-looking, hardworking young man,” he added.

Alongside Prithviraj, co-star Kajol has also weighed in on the conversation around star kids facing social media backlash. In a recent interaction with PTI, the actor spoke candidly about the undue pressure and harsh judgment that actors from film families often endure.

Directed by Kazoye Irani, Sarzameen is shaping up to be a pivotal project for Ibrahim, giving him the opportunity to silence doubters and showcase his growth as a performer.
