Actor Emraan Hashmi has tested positive for swine flu (H1N1) and is currently recovering after being unwell for the past few days.

The actor shared the health update while announcing the postponement of an upcoming appearance in Bengaluru. Taking to Instagram Stories, Hashmi apologised to fans and said he would be unable to attend the scheduled event due to his health.

“Hey Bangalore, I'm really unwell and unfortunately won't be able to make it to the Bangalore show. But picture khatam nahi hua, bas postpone hua hai!” he wrote.

Hashmi announced that the event at Sunburn Union has been rescheduled to September 12, adding that tickets purchased for the original date would remain valid.

“I'll see you all at Sunburn Union on 12th September, Saturday. Your tickets will remain valid for the new date. Can't wait to see you guys!” the actor said.

The health setback comes as Hashmi has been enjoying the success of his latest release, Awarapan 2. Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Films, the film sees Hashmi return as Shivam Pandit, who is approached by an Interpol officer to help rescue abducted children.

The film also features Disha Patani as Zara and Shabana Azmi as gangster queen Nafisa. Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Puran Gabbi are also part of the cast.

Awarapan 2 follows the 2007 film Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri. Although the original did not perform well at the box office upon its release, it later developed a strong fan following, with songs such as Toh Phir Aao continuing to remain popular.
