Prithviraj Sukumaran’s highly anticipated directorial, L2: Empuraan, starring veteran actor Mohanlal, has set a new record even before its release, becoming the most pre-booked Indian film within the first hour on BookMyShow. The director shared the milestone on his official X account, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming response.
Taking to X, Prithviraj posted, “The Highest Hourly Pre-Sales Ever in Indian Cinemas on BOOKMYSHOW. 96.14K/Hr”, highlighting the unprecedented demand for the film. The excitement among fans is evident, as nearly one lakh tickets were sold in the first hour of booking.
The film, slated for release on March 27, has already surpassed the opening booking records of blockbuster films like Leo and Pushpa 2.
As soon as bookings opened, a massive influx of fans swarmed ticketing websites, causing an overwhelming surge in demand. Reports indicate that BookMyShow even faced server issues due to the high traffic. Tickets for the first-day-first-show have already sold out in most theatres, reflecting the film's immense anticipation.
It is noteworthy that these record-breaking figures are solely from BookMyShow, suggesting that the overall collection figures post-release could be extraordinary. Fans had already started booking tickets for the 6 am show on the day of the release.
