The much-awaited sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer, titled L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and starring Mohanlal, finally graced theaters on Thursday. While the film’s larger-than-life scale and captivating performances have taken center stage, one particular aspect of the movie has captured the hearts of fans, the emotional song "Empurane."

The track, which is quickly becoming a fan favourite, features a unique touch that has added to its charm: the voice of Prithviraj’s 10-year-old daughter, Alankrita Menon Sukumaran. Music director Deepak Dev shared this heartwarming detail in a recent interview, revealing that it was Alankrita who lent her voice to the song, which required the emotional intensity of a child's crying.

Originally, an adult female voice was planned for this part, but the emotional tone of the scene led to a creative shift. When they realised the scene called for a child's cry, they felt Alankrita's voice would bring the right depth. Deepak went on to explain that she sang it beautifully, capturing the emotion they needed. Her name was also included in the credits of the film.

Despite Prithviraj’s initial curiosity about the idea, given that Alankrita primarily listens to English songs, the young talent swiftly impressed everyone. Once Alankrita was introduced to the song, she picked it up within five minutes and delivered it beautifully, said Deepak. He added that apart from Alankrita, actor Indrajith Sukumaran's daughter, Prarthana, also lent their voice to the movie.

The much-anticipated film premiered in Kerala at 6 am on Thursday and is currently being screened across 750 theaters in the state. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor, Gokulam Gopalan, and Subaskaran, and backed by Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies, and Lyca Productions, L2: Empuraan boasts a star-studded ensemble cast, including Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and Indrajith Sukumaran.
