Kochi: Noted Malayalam film director Shafi, who is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding, remains in critical condition, fellow director B Unnikrishnan said.

Addressing the media after visiting Shafi at Kochi Aster Medcity, Unnikrishnan shared that Shafi’s family, friends, and colleagues are present at the hospital, and all possible treatments are being provided.

Unnikrishnan stated that Shafi remains on a ventilator and that his treatment is ongoing, though there has been no significant improvement. “We hope for the best possible outcome, which is why we are staying here. I spoke with the doctors, and they are providing the most effective treatment,” he said.

The filmmaker, was admitted on January 16 and also underwent an emergency brain surgery. He remains on ventilator support. 

Shafi is known for directing several hit films, including ‘Thommanum Makkalum,’ ‘Chattambinadu,’ ‘Kalyanaraman,’ ‘Marykkundoru Kunjaadu,’ ‘Mayavi,’ ‘Two Countries,’ and more.
