Actor Dhyan Sreenivasan steps into farming in Udayamperoor, sowing seeds for paddy cultivation across 80 acres.

Actor Dhyan Sreenivasan is turning over a new leaf—quite literally—as he steps into paddy cultivation, following the agricultural path of his father and veteran actor Sreenivasan. The Sreenivasan family, who live close to the lush Kandanad-Punachal paddy fields in Udayamperoor, are leading this season’s rice cultivation efforts with full commitment.
On Tuesday, the seed sowing ceremony took place under Dhyan's leadership, marking a fresh chapter in the region’s farming revival. The fields had already been tilled and prepared in advance.
For many years, Sreenivasan himself has been actively involved in farming on this very land. This time, the effort is a joint initiative, with Saju Kurian and Manu Philip leading the hands-on agricultural work.
According to Manu Philip, paddy cultivation will cover 80 acres this season—a major undertaking supported by Udayamperoor Panchayat, the Agricultural Department and MFC Limited.
A grand “vithu mahotsavam” (seed sowing festival) will be inaugurated by MP Hibi Eden at 10 am on Tuesday. Udayamperoor Panchayat president Sajitha Murali will preside over the event. Notable guests include Sreenivasan, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Manikandan Achari and George Kulangara, founder of the Middle Kerala Farmers Producer Company.
