Malayalam actor Dhruvan has shared an unusual and amusing memory from his time working with Mammootty in the 2023 hit ‘Kannur Squad’. The actor, who played the film’s antagonist, revealed that a scene involving the megastar left him with a bite mark that lasted for days.

Dhruvan spoke about the experience in an interview with Milestone Makers, reflecting on what it was like to collaborate closely with Mammootty on set. “It was very exciting to work alongside Mammootty in the film. He was the one who recommended me for Kannur Squad. I might be the only person to have been bitten by Mammootty, in the climax scene – I don’t think anyone else has experienced that yet. The bite mark stayed on my hand for a few days, and I even took a photo of it.,” he said.

Dhruvan portrayed Zulfikar Ali in ‘Kannur Squad’, directed by Roby Varghese Raj in his debut outing and jointly produced by Mammootty Company, Wayfarer Films and Truth Global Films. The police procedural features Mammootty in the lead, supported by Azeez Nedumangad, Ronnie David, Kishore Kumar, Vijayaraghavan and Sreekumar. The film is currently streaming on JioHotstar.

The actor, who began his career as a junior artist in ‘Lisammayude Veedu’ (2013), rose to prominence with his lead role in ‘Queen’ (2018). He later appeared in notable projects such as ‘Valimai’ and ‘Jana Gana Mana’, strengthening his footing across industries.

Dhruvan was most recently seen in Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘Vilaayath Budha’, which released on 21 November 2025. Set in the sandalwood-lined terrain of Marayoor, the film blends themes of rivalry, revenge and romance. Alongside Prithviraj, the cast includes Shammi Thilakan, Anu Mohan, Rajashri Nair and T J Arunachalam. Jakes Bejoy composed the music, while cinematographers Arvind Kashyap – of ‘Kantara 1 & 2’ fame – and Renadive teamed up to craft the film’s visual aesthetic.
