Even legendary Dharmendra went the extra mile for Hema Malini, booking all the rooms in the hospital to ensure privacy during the birth of their daughters.

As Indian cinema pays tribute to the legendary Dharmendra, who is no more, fans are remembering not just his iconic films but also his enduring love story with Hema Malini. The Bollywood evergreen couple, often celebrated for their chemistry on-screen, shared a bond that withstood time and speculation. Despite rumours that their relationship wouldn’t last, Dharmendra and Hema remained inseparable, supporting each other through every moment.
One particularly touching episode from their life together has recently gone viral. When Hema Malini was about to give birth to their daughter Esha Deol, Dharmendra went to extraordinary lengths to ensure her comfort and privacy. According to Hema’s friend Neetu Kohli, only close friends and family knew Hema was pregnant at the time.
“During Esha’s birth, no one knew she was about to deliver,” Neetu revealed. “The delivery took place at a nursing home with 100 rooms, all of which Dharmendra booked before admitting Hema. Nobody knew he had done this. It was entirely to ensure Hema had privacy and peace.”
Hema Malini herself confirmed the story during an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show: “It’s true. For the births of Esha and Ahana, he booked all the rooms in the hospital. It was to make sure I didn’t face any difficulties because of the fans.”
Over the years, the couple starred together in more than 40 films, and their love story off-screen was as remarkable as their on-screen chemistry. Dharmendra’s gesture during Hema’s delivery is just one example of the devotion and care that made their relationship legendary in Bollywood.
