Defamation: Artist Namboothiri’s son demands Rs 1 cr compensation from Alencier

Kochi: Artist Namboothiri’s son Devan has sent a legal notice to actor Alencier demanding compensation of Rs 1 crore. This is based on a complaint that Alencier insulted artist Namboothiri in an interview following the Kerala State Film awards fiasco. 

Receiving the award, Alencier had said, “Special Jury Award winners should be presented with a gold-plated statuette. Do not tempt us with this female sculpture. In a state with a manly chief minister, give us a sculpture with masculine strength.”  In an interview the actor gave to a channel following this, Alencier made further comments about the ‘female statuette’. 

The statuette awarded for this was not created by Artist Namboothiri. However, Devan said that the actor verbally insulted Namboothiri in the interview and in the name of his caste.
