The Thrippunithura First Class Magistrate Court has ordered an investigation into a financial fraud complaint against the producers of the Malayalam film RDX (Robert Dony Xavier), released in 2023 and directed by Nahas Hidayath.

The complaint, filed by Thrippunithura resident and co-producer Anjana Abraham, accuses producers Sophia Paul and James Paul of failing to distribute the promised profit margins and related records. Anjana claims to have invested Rs 6 crore in the film's production and was assured a full return on her investment along with 30% of the total profit. However, she alleges that she only received her initial investment after repeated requests and was kept in the dark about the film's satellite rights sale.

RDX Robert Dony Xavier was a commercial success at the box office. This legal issue has emerged shortly after similar allegations were made against the producers of the hit film Manjummel Boys. In that case, it was alleged that, after receiving production funds, neither the principal amount nor the profit share was paid. Actor and co-producer Soubin Shahir was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Kochi, following a complaint from an investor who contributed Rs 7 crore but was not paid, despite the film making a profit of Rs 250 crore.
