Kochi: A woman who has accused Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly of sexual harassment has also filed a police complaint alleging threats from the actor.

The complaint, dated August 6, 2024, was registered with the Oonnukal police station. The complainant claims that Pauly and his PR team have been harassing her and her family by spreading false news and attempting to discredit her through claims of a honey trap.

The alleged incident took place in 2023. The complainant, from Neriamangalam, asserts that Pauly sexually assaulted her abroad under the pretext of offering her a movie role. According to her account, she was introduced to Pauly by a female friend. The case involves Pauly, the female friend, and four other individuals. Meanwhile, the actor had dismissed the sexual assault allegation and stated that he will pursue legal action.

An officer of Oonnukal police station, where the FIR under section 376 of the IPC was registered, said that there are six accused, including a woman, in the case.

The first accused is a woman and Pauly is the sixth accused, the officer said.

The woman reported the incident to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was established following the release of the Hema Committee report. The SIT subsequently informed the Oonnukal police.

Pauly is among several actors and directors currently facing allegations of sexual harassment or rape in the wake of the Justice K Hema Committee report. This committee, constituted by the Kerala government after the 2017 actress assault case, revealed widespread instances of harassment and exploitation in the Malayalam cinema industry. In response to these allegations, the state government announced on August 25 the formation of a seven-member special investigation team to probe the cases.
