Kolkata: Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee has reportedly passed away at the age of 43, sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday while shooting for a television serial.
According to initial reports, Banerjee was shooting for ‘Bhole Baba Par Karega’ near Talsari when he fell overboard while boating in the sea. Rescue teams rushed to the spot and took him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Banerjee’s journey in the performing arts began at a very young age. He made his stage debut at just three years old with his father Biswanath Banerjee’s troupe, Bijoygarh Atmaprakash, in the play Raj Darshan. Over the years, he went on to perform in nearly 450 stage shows, working with his father’s troupe as well as Theatron.
He rose to fame with the blockbuster film Chirodini Tumi Je Amar, where he starred opposite Priyanka Sarkar. Directed by Raj Chakraborty, the film was a massive box-office success and established him as a leading face in Bengali cinema.
Banerjee later appeared in several films, including Love Circus and Shono Mon Boli Tomay, and also made his mark on television with the series Tumi Asbe Bole. His performance in Chirodini Tumi Je Amar earned him the prestigious Anandalok Award for Best Actor in 2008.
