Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday reportedly directed the Department of Cultural Affairs to conduct an inquiry over whether State Chalachitra Academy chairman Ranjith had attempted to influence the jury of the Kerala State Film Awards, 2022. The decision comes in the wake of the complaint lodged by filmmaker Vinayan in this regard.

Earlier, Vinayan had accused Ranjith of misusing his position to pressurise the jury against considering his film ‘Pathonpatham Noottandu’ for the awards. He had also released audio clips of jury members Nemom Pushparaj and Jensy Gregory, who were heard talking against Ranjith over the awards, as proof of his claims.

In the audio clip, Nemam Pushparaj claimed that the majority of jury members had a pre-planned goal concerning not to grant any accolades to 'Pathonpatham Noottandu'.

Jury chairman and cultural minister has denied the allegations.
