Actor Arjun Ashokan, who played Thevan in the Mammootty-starrer ‘Bramayugam,’ has credited the megastar for his performance in the film. In a recent interview, Arjun expressed his gratitude, stating that if he were to win a National Award for the role, Mammootty would be the first person he would thank.

The actor, who was last seen in ‘Anpodu Kanmani’ and ‘Anand Sreebala,’ is currently promoting his upcoming film ‘Bromance.’ During a rapid-fire round in an interview with Pearle Maaney, Arjun was asked, “If you wake up one morning and realise that you have won the National Award for ‘Bramayugam,’ who would you hug first, who would you inform first, and who would you thank?”

Responding to the question, Arjun said he would first hug his mother, father, wife, and daughter. He added that he would call Soubin Shahir, Asif Ali, and ‘Bramayugam’ director Rahul Sadasivan to share the news. However, when it came to whom he would thank, Arjun had no hesitation: “I will thank Mammookka for the National Award in ‘Bramayugam.’”

Reflecting on his experience portraying Thevan, Arjun admitted that it was one of the most challenging roles of his career. “Of all the characters I have acted in, I was most tensed for this one. There was nowhere to refer from. I learned the character while acting,” he explained. He credited director Rahul Sadasivan for guiding him through the process and added, “There was some divine power that helped me do the role.”

After the film’s release, Arjun received widespread appreciation for his performance. Recalling a special moment, he shared, “It felt really good when Fahadh Faasil messaged me and said, ‘Hearing good response… brilliant job… keep it up… keep going.’”

Arjun Ashokan is currently gearing up for the release of ‘Bromance,’ helmed by ‘Jo and Jo’ director Arun D Jose. The film, which hits theatres on February 14, 2025, also stars Mahima Nambiar, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Binu Pappu, Shyam Mohan, and Sangeeth Prathap. Written by Arun along with Raveesh Nath and Thomas P Sebastian, the film is produced by Ashiq Usman under Ashiq Usman Productions.

The film made headlines in 2024 when Arjun, Mathew Thomas, and Sangeeth Prathap were involved in a car accident while filming a chase sequence. The car, reportedly driven by the stunt choreographer, crashed during the shoot, but the actors escaped without serious injuries.
