Malayalam actress Anumol, known for her performances in Chayilyam, Ivan Megharoopan, and Vedivazhipadu, recently shared her deep admiration for legendary actor Mammootty.
Recalling her experience working with him in Kadugannava: Oru Yathra Kurippu—a segment from the anthology film Manorathangal, written by M.T. Vasudevan Nair and directed by Ranjith—Anumol revealed a surprising and amusing moment.
In an interview, she described how closely observing Mammootty on set became a valuable learning experience for her. “Before that film, I had only seen Mammookka on screen. Isn’t it a blessing to see him in person? Since the film used sync sound, I stayed near the monitor even when I was asked to take breaks—I wanted to observe him. I wanted to understand how he used his body for the character. He is someone with immense experience and seniority,” she said.
Anumol praised Mammootty’s infectious energy and discipline, stating that his passion for cinema has kept him at the top for decades. “He arrives on set with so much joy. Unlike many younger actors who hesitate, he is always active and engaged. His energy is truly inspiring,” she added.
However, the most unexpected revelation came when she admitted to closely observing every aspect of Mammootty—including his hands and feet. “I wanted to study everything—his acting, his dressing, even the way he use his hands and feet used in acting. No one will believe this, but I once took a photo of Mammookka’s feet!” she said with a laugh.
Her candid admission has since gone viral, highlighting the deep admiration actors have for Mammootty’s craft and presence in the Malayalam film industry.
