The last date to withdraw nominations is today.

Kochi: Actor Jagadish has withdrawn his nomination, narrowing the race for the AMMA president’s post to Shwetha Menon and Devan. Baburaj, Kuku Parameswaran and Ravindran will contest for the general secretary position. The last date to withdraw nominations is Thursday. Jayan Cherthala and Ravindran, who had earlier filed nominations for the president’s post, have already withdrawn. Actor Anoop Chandran has filed nominations for both president and general secretary posts.
For the vice president position, Jayan Cherthala, Navya Nair, Naser Latheef and Lakshmi Priya are in the race, while Ansiba Hassan is contesting for the joint secretary post. Two candidates will be elected for the vice president posts. After withdrawing his nomination for the treasurer post, actor Vinu Mohan is likely to contest for the joint secretary position. The main contest for the treasurer post is between Suresh Krishna and Unni Shivapal. The AMMA elections will be held on August 15.

Meanwhile, actor Devan said he had expected Mohanlal to contest for the AMMA leadership and is now running for the president’s post as Mohanlal was not willing to enter the race. He also added that there have been threats that nominations would be cancelled if they meet the media and stated that any such moves would be dealt with legally.
