About ‘Kalki 2’ and the Kalki Cinematic Universe (KCU)

'Kalki 2898 AD', directed by Nag Ashwin, released in 2024 and emerged as one of the biggest Indian films of the year. Blending mythology and science fiction, the film is set in a dystopian future in the year 2898 AD in the city of Kashi.

The story revolves around a mission to protect the unborn child of lab subject SUM-80, believed to be Kalki — the final incarnation of Lord Vishnu — marking the beginning of the planned Kalki Cinematic Universe.

The ensemble cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. Bachchan’s portrayal of Ashwatthama was widely praised, while Kamal Haasan appeared in a powerful antagonist role.

With 'Kalki 2' now underway, anticipation is high for the next chapter in the epic mythological sci-fi franchise.
