Amitabh Bachchan has sustained a knee injury after a fall on the sets of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 18’. The Bollywood veteran shared the news during Wednesday’s episode of the quiz show, explaining why he had to deliver his customary opening monologue while seated instead of standing at the centre of the stage.
The actor, who is known for his energetic presence as the host of KBC, said he had slipped and fallen during the previous day’s shoot, injuring his knee in the process.

“Usually, I do my monologue standing at the centre, but today, I have a knee injury. Yesterday, during the shoot, I slipped and fell and injured my knee,” Amitabh said.
Explaining why he chose to remain seated, the actor added that he was experiencing “a little bit of difficulty standing up”. However, he reassured viewers that the injury was not severe and that he expected to recover soon.
Despite the discomfort, Amitabh continued with his hosting duties on the show, which is currently airing its 18th season.
Amitabh Bachchan clarifies retirement rumours
Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan recently put an end to speculation about his retirement from films. The rumours began after the actor used the phrase “wishes to retire” in a blog post, prompting questions about whether he was planning to step away from his acting career.
The veteran actor later clarified that his words had been taken out of context. He explained that he was referring to retiring to bed for the night, rather than quitting work.
Reacting to a media report about his supposed retirement, Amitabh shared a newspaper clipping on his blog and addressed the speculation.
“I wrote in the blog .. ‘it’s late, time to retire ..’ which we all know means retire to bed it’s late .. and this is the Media – the CONSCIENCE of a NATION – THE ULTIMATE INFORMER !!” he wrote.
Making his stance clear, the actor added, “Ji nahin huzoor, main kaam se retire nahin ho raha hoon; Angrezi mein iska matlab hota hai main ab sone jaa raha hoon. Aur wahan maanyavar aapko aane ka nimantran nahin hai.”

In the statement, Amitabh reiterated that he had no intention of retiring from work, clarifying that his original remark was simply about going to sleep.
The actor continues to host ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 18’, while his clarification has put to rest the speculation surrounding his retirement from films.
