Chennai: YouTuber Karthik has issued an apology to actress Gouri Kishan after facing backlash for his offensive remarks at a press conference.

In a video message, Karthik said he never intended to hurt Gouri and expressed regret if his comments had caused her distress. He clarified that he was not body-shaming her and that his question had been misunderstood.

The apology came after widespread criticism, although earlier in the day, Karthik had insisted he had done nothing wrong and saw no reason to apologise.

A controversy erupted online after actress Gouri Kishan, known for her performances in Malayalam movies ‘Margamkali’, ‘Anugraheethan Antony’ and the recent ‘Sahasam’, was subjected to sexist and body-shaming remarks during a press meet for her Tamil film ‘Others’. The incident, which took place on November 6, has sparked outrage across social media, with many calling out the unprofessional behaviour of an youtuber RS Karthik.
