Los Angeles: Sixteen-year-old actor Owen Cooper created history at the Golden Globe Awards 2026 by becoming the youngest actor ever to win in the Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series category for his performance in Netflix’s hit drama Adolescence.
The award was presented at the Golden Globe ceremony at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on Sunday night. With the win, Cooper also became the youngest male actor to complete a rare back-to-back sweep of television’s top honours, the Golden Globe, Emmy Award and Critics’ Choice Award.

Earlier this month, Cooper won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Made-for-TV Movie for Adolescence. Last year, he made history at the Emmy Awards as the youngest male actor to win an acting Emmy.
In the four-episode Netflix series, Cooper plays Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old schoolboy arrested in a murder case. The show focuses not on identifying the killer, but on examining the psychological and social circumstances that lead to Jamie’s tragic path.

Adolescence enjoyed a strong night at the Golden Globes, winning three major awards, including Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series or Made-for-TV Movie. Actress Erin Doherty won Best Female Supporting Actor, while actor-director Stephen Graham took home the Best Male Actor award in the limited series category for his role as Jamie’s troubled father.
The series, which also stars Christine Tremarco and Amelie Pease, has seen massive global viewership. According to Deadline, Adolescence crossed 141 million views in its first three months, making it Netflix’s second most-watched series after Wednesday.
