Being closely connected to Bollywood's biggest production house, Jyoti Mukerji chose a different path. The actress has now revealed the reason behind that decision.

Actress Jyoti Mukerji has opened up about her close relationship with sister-in-law Rani Mukerji and filmmaker Aditya Chopra, while revealing why she deliberately chose not to work with Yash Raj Films despite her family connections.
Speaking in a recent interview with Rediff, Jyoti described Aditya Chopra as "the best brother-in-law anyone could ask for."
She praised the famously private filmmaker for being the person who keeps the family closely connected, saying he has a natural ability to bring everyone together and maintain strong family bonds.
Despite being related to one of Bollywood's most influential film families, Jyoti said she never wanted her career to be defined by nepotism. She explained that she intentionally stayed away from Yash Raj Films because she wanted to build her own identity as an actor.

According to her, while family support may help someone get an opportunity, only talent and hard work can sustain a career. She wanted filmmakers to cast her based on her performances rather than her relationship with Rani Mukerji or Aditya Chopra.
Jyoti also shared that Rani is much more than a sister-in-law to her. Having grown up without siblings, she now considers the ‘Mardaani’ star her own sister. She described Rani as caring, family-oriented and someone who dotes on her parents as well as Jyoti's children.

At the same time, she admired Rani's professionalism, saying the actress becomes completely focused once she steps onto a film set. Jyoti particularly praised her discipline and punctuality, adding that she often encourages her own daughter to learn those qualities from Rani.
On the work front, Jyoti was recently seen in ‘Ikka’ alongside Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna, an experience she says helped her learn by observing the veteran actors. She made her film debut with ‘Maharaj’ in 2024 and has since appeared in several popular television shows, besides sharing screen space with Rani Mukerji in ‘Mardaani 3’.
