Actor Shilpa Shirodkar recently opened up about a bizarre and disturbing rumour that surfaced during the shooting of her 1995 film Raghuveer, which claimed she had been shot dead on set.

The rumour created panic among her family and fans at the time but was later revealed to be part of an unannounced promotional strategy by the film’s makers.

Directed by Anand, Raghuveer starred Suniel Shetty in the lead role alongside Shilpa Shirodkar, Suresh Oberoi, Sudha Chandran, Mohnish Bahl, Aruna Irani, Gulshan Grover, and Prem Chopra.

In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Shilpa recalled the confusion during the film’s shoot in Kullu Manali.

“I was in Kullu Manali. My dad was trying to call the hotel because we didn’t have mobile phones at that time. I was shooting with Suniel Shetty there. Everyone who was watching the shoot there kept thinking if this is Shilpa or someone else because they knew the news," she said.

She further added, “When I came back to the room, there were around 20–25 missed calls. My parents were worried, there was a headline in a newspaper that Shilpa Shirodkar was shot dead."

The shocking rumour turned out to be a promotional tactic, which the actress only learned about much later.

“When he told me, I was like ‘Okay’. There was no PR activity or anything at that time. I was the last one to know that something like this was going to happen. No one used to take permission at that time. The film worked well, so I wasn’t really angry," Shilpa shared.

Now, after a long hiatus from the big screen, Shilpa Shirodkar is set to make her comeback with Jatadhara, a much-anticipated pan-India supernatural thriller.
