Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly took to Instagram to share her grief over the loss of her son Shamsher, who passed away due to hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS), a rare congenital heart condition. Shamsher, who would have been a twin to Celina’s son Arthur, died shortly after birth, leaving the family shattered.

Celina revealed that she received the devastating diagnosis during her pregnancy, just months after losing her father. Despite consulting top cardiologists in Dubai, London, and India, doctors confirmed that there was no cure for HLHS. The actress expressed the deep emotional turmoil of carrying a child she knew she could not save.

“I wished I could save him… but I couldn’t,” Celina wrote, alongside a touching photograph of herself and Arthur at Shamsher’s gravesite.

Describing it as the most emotionally painful experience of her life, Celina spoke about the helplessness she felt as a mother.

“We endured the pregnancy in pain & prayer, hoping for a miracle. I wished there were medicines I could take, I wished there was a surgery I could go through, but there was nothing… & the chance of survival was very low.”

She recalled the overwhelming sense of powerlessness, knowing that medical science had no remedy for her unborn child.

Despite the loss, Celina’s message carried gratitude and resilience.

“I am however so grateful that God did not leave us empty-handed,” she wrote, referring to her son Arthur and the strength of her family. She often reflects on how life might have been had Shamsher survived and believes that Arthur deeply feels the absence of his twin.

Celina also shared how her older children have rallied around Arthur, offering him love and support in the shadow of his brother’s memory.
