Adv K P Gopakumar, who played the lead role in Mohanlal’s unreleased debut film ‘Thiranottam’, has died at 73.

Thiruvananthapuram: Advocate K P Gopakumar (73), who acted alongside Mohanlal in his first film ‘Thiranottam’, has passed away. In the 1978 film, produced by Mohanlal and his friends, Gopakumar played a protagonist-like character.
The film was directed by Ashok Kumar, while Mohanlal appeared in a comic role. Gopakumar’s background in theatre led him to the film project. The film was never released.
He later acted in two Tamil films. Subsequently, he moved to the Gulf and worked as a legal adviser in the Saudi Arabia and Bahrain companies of Ravi Pillai. After returning home at Kaithamukku Punnapuram, Gopakumar practised as an advocate at the Vanchiyoor court.
He had been bedridden due to illness.
He is survived by wife Geetha Menon and daughter Revathi G Menon. His siblings are P S Shubha, Jayasree, late Padmaja, Mohankumar and Prathap. The cremation has been held.
