Television actor Abhinav Shukla has become the centre of an online discussion after making an unusual claim about climate change during a recent episode of the4POV, the podcast hosted by Rubina Dilaik, Hina Khan, Abhinav and Rocky Jaiswal.

The conversation began with actor and environmental advocate Dia Mirza's recent statement that patriarchy plays a role in the climate crisis. As the group discussed the topic, Abhinav introduced another angle, saying that pornography also contributes to global warming because producing and distributing such content requires large amounts of energy.

His remark caught Rubina by surprise, while Hina and Rocky appeared curious about his reasoning. Hina then asked both Abhinav and Rocky if they had ever watched pornography.

Calling pornography "dangerous", Abhinav said it creates unrealistic ideas about relationships and intimacy. He also claimed that excessive consumption could affect men's motivation, productivity and overall sense of purpose.

According to him, pornography presents a distorted version of reality and can have a negative impact on men by making them less driven and causing them to waste time.

When Rubina asked if he had ever watched porn himself, Abhinav admitted that he had. Rocky responded with a joke, while Hina said she had seen it before but never found it appealing. Rubina added that she had read about research suggesting pornography can be addictive.

A video clip from the podcast quickly spread across social media, where viewers shared a range of reactions.

Addressing the backlash, Dia later shared a video on Instagram explaining her point of view.

She said that climate change and patriarchy are closely linked because both stem from systems that prioritise exploitation over care, domination over balance and short-term gains over long-term wellbeing.

The actor also highlighted the important role women play in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices.
