A protest by members of the Bajrang Dal in Bihar's Forbesganj has brought actor Aamir Khan's recent marriage to Gauri Spratt into the spotlight. Demonstrators burnt an effigy of the Bollywood star and levelled allegations of "love jihad", while demanding action against him.

Videos from the protest showed members raising slogans against the actor as they staged the demonstration.

Speaking during the protest, Bajrang Dal leader Manoj Soni accused Aamir Khan of repeatedly marrying Hindu women. According to a statement released by Soni, he alleged that the actor was insulting Hindu society through his marriages.

“Aamir Khan lagataar Hindu behen betiyon ko shaadi racha kar ke line laga raha hai," he said.

Soni further claimed that Aamir was part of what he described as a larger conspiracy aimed at weakening the Hindu community. He also warned that the actor would be "taught a lesson" if he did not stop what he referred to as such actions.

Soni questioned why Aamir Khan had married Hindu women instead of women from the Muslim community.

"Shaadi karta hai Hindu beti se aur paida karta hai Taimuz, Afroz, Salman, kahan ka niyam hai bhai. Akhir unko Muslim samaj ke bahu beti se pyaar kyun nahi ho raha hai? Hindu beti se unko pyaar kyun ho raha hai," he said.

Soni also appealed to the courts and the government to take action against the actor, accusing him of attempting to disturb communal harmony in the country.

A look at Aamir Khan's marriages

Aamir Khan was first married to Reena Dutta in 1986. The couple separated in 2002 after more than a decade of marriage.

He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005. They announced their separation in 2021 but have continued to maintain an amicable relationship and have worked together professionally since then.

More recently, Aamir married Gauri Spratt in a private ceremony held at his Mumbai residence.

Who is Gauri Spratt?

According to reports, Gauri Spratt has a Tamilian mother and an Irish father, while her grandfather was a freedom fighter.

She trained as a hairdresser and also holds an FDA in Fashion, Styling and Photography from the University of the Arts London.

Gauri is also the mother of a six-year-old son. Details about her previous marriage have not been made public. Professionally, she is currently associated with Aamir Khan Films, where she works with the actor's production company.
