With reports suggesting that Bollywood star Aamir Khan is preparing to marry Gauri Spratt in a private ceremony on July 5, attention has once again turned to the actor's candid reflections on finding love later in life.

Last year, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, Aamir introduced Gauri to the media and spoke openly about their relationship. The actor revealed that he had not expected to find a life partner again and described meeting Gauri as one of the most meaningful developments in his personal life.

Speaking at a HT event in 2025, Aamir admitted that he had reached a stage where he believed another serious relationship was unlikely.

Reflecting on his relationship with Gauri, Aamir said:

"To be very honest, I think I had reached a point where I felt I probably wouldn't be able to find someone who can be my partner. I was not expecting it."

The actor went on to explain how Gauri had brought stability and balance into his life, while also acknowledging the important role his former partners had played in shaping him as a person.

"She brings a lot of calm, she brings a lot of steadiness. She's a really amazing person and I'm so fortunate actually and lucky I feel that I met her. To be honest I feel I'm very fortunate. While our marriages may not have worked, until our lives did, but I think I'm still very happy that I met Reena, Kiran and now Gauri in my life. There have been three people who have really contributed to me as a person in a very big way. I really look up to them in many ways," Aamir concluded.

Introducing Gauri to the public

Although the actor has generally kept his personal life private, he chose to publicly introduce Gauri during celebrations surrounding his milestone 60th birthday in 2025.

The announcement surprised many fans, as Aamir had previously maintained a low profile regarding his relationships following the end of his second marriage.

His remarks at the event offered a rare glimpse into his personal journey and highlighted how his outlook on companionship had changed over the years.

Aamir Khan's marriages

Before beginning his relationship with Gauri, Aamir was married twice.

His first marriage was to Reena Dutta, his childhood sweetheart. The couple married in an intimate ceremony in 1986 and later welcomed two children, Junaid and Ira. While Junaid has pursued a career in films, Ira has become known for her work in the field of mental health awareness. The marriage ended in 2002 after 16 years.

Aamir later married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005. The pair first met during the making of the Oscar-nominated film Lagaan, where Rao worked as an assistant director. Their marriage lasted more than 15 years before they announced their separation in 2021.

Despite the split, the two have continued to work together professionally and co-parent their son, Azad, who was born through surrogacy.
