Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer 2’ has crossed ₹20 crore in worldwide advance bookings within roughly 24 hours of tickets going on sale, setting the stage for a potentially record-breaking opening. With four days remaining before its theatrical release, the action entertainer is already witnessing strong demand, particularly in overseas markets.

‘Jailer 2’ advance booking collection

Advance bookings for ‘Jailer 2’ opened in select overseas markets on October 9, followed by India on October 10. Kerala began sales on the morning of October 11, with bookings in several other regions and for dubbed versions expected to expand further.

By the morning of October 11, the film’s worldwide advance sales had crossed the ₹20-crore mark, according to early trade estimates. Overseas markets accounted for a significant share of the total, with pre-sales approaching $2 million.

In India, the film grossed more than ₹4 crore in advance bookings despite ticket sales not being fully open across all states and centres. The first-day advance booking collection stood at over ₹3.53 crore in gross sales, according to the figures cited in trade reports.

Tamil Nadu remains the film’s biggest domestic market, contributing nearly 90% of its Indian pre-sales. Chennai alone accounted for around ₹1.63 crore in advance bookings.

The numbers could climb further as bookings gather pace in Kerala and other parts of the country, including for the Malayalam- and Hindi-dubbed versions. While Rajinikanth’s films traditionally draw their strongest business from Tamil Nadu, they also enjoy a substantial audience beyond the state.
