The makers of ‘Neelavelicham’ on Friday released the new version of the evergreen melody “Thamasamenthe Varuvan”, written by lyricist P Bhaskaran and composed by MS Baburaj, the third track from the movie.

The track sung by Shahabaz Aman has been released as an advance birthday tribute to MS Baburaj, whose birth anniversary falls on March 9. The original version of “Thamasamenthe Varuvan” was rendered by legendary singer KJ Yesudas, and was released in 1964.

The video song features the romance between Bhargavi and Sasikumar, played by Rima Kallingal and Roshan Mathew respectively. Two other tracks of the film, namely ‘Anuraga Madhu Chashakam’ and ‘Ekanthathayude Mahatheeram’, had been released earlier.

‘Neelavelicham’, directed by Aashiq Abu’, is an adaptation of writer Vaikkom Muhammed Basheer’s short story of the same title. The film was announced as part of the writer's 113rd birthday celebrations.

It stars Tovino Thomas, Rima Kallingal and Roshan Mathew in lead roles and marks Tovino's fourth movie with Aashiq Abu after 'Maayanadhi', 'Virus' and 'Naaradan'.

Earlier, it had been announced that Prithviraj and Kunchacko Boban will play lead roles in the movie. But the duo reportedly opted out from the project due to date clashes.
