A Team Trump TikTok video is a little quieter than it was four days ago and fans think they know exactly why.

The clip, posted to the @TeamTrump account (14 million followers strong), showed Donald and Melania Trump on a balcony watching fireworks, with on-screen text reading "Mood because it's August and Donald Trump is your president." The soundtrack was Taylor Swift's ‘august,’ off her 2020 album Folklore.

The caption practically dared her to react: "I'm sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song!"

She wasn't. Or at least, someone wasn't

By Friday evening, fans noticed the audio had vanished. US users scrolling to the video now hit a copyright notice explaining the sound isn't available in their country.

One of the top comments summed up the mood: "TAYLOR REMOVING THE AUDIO QUEEEEEEN."

It's not the first time this has happened. A Team Trump video posted in November 2025 that used Swift's ‘Father Figure’ has also gone silent.

Curiously, the muting isn't universal, a video posted just a day before the ‘august’ clip, using a version of Swift's ‘Red,’ still has its audio intact. And a White House TikTok video from last November featuring ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ remains untouched as well.

Whether Swift or her camp actually requested the takedown, or whether this is simply a licensing quirk, hasn't been confirmed. Neither Swift's nor Trump's representatives have commented.

That hasn't stopped the internet from drawing its own conclusions. "I'm sure Taylor is super excited… that she got to mute your little August fantasy. Absolute cinema," one user wrote on X.

Another framed it as a political statement: "One thing about Taylor is, she would always break maga allegations."

A history with baggage

The audio drama lands on top of years of friction between Swift and Trump.

In September 2024, Trump posted that he "hated" Swift after she endorsed Kamala Harris for president.

A month before that, he'd shared AI-generated images falsely suggesting Swift had endorsed his campaign, including one casting her as Uncle Sam.

Asked if he worried about legal blowback, Trump shrugged it off, saying the images were made by other people.

As of Saturday, Swift has made no public statement about the removed audio but for her fans, the silence itself is saying plenty.
