R&B singer Ray J raised alarm among fans after his performance at “An Intimate Valentine’s Day Concert” in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Saturday, with videos from the event circulating online showing what appeared to be blood on his face.

In one clip, the 45-year-old artist is seen wearing sunglasses as a drop of blood ran down his cheek. While it is unclear whether the substance resulted from an actual injury or a stage effect, fans quickly expressed concern online.

During the performance, Ray J briefly unzipped his jumpsuit, revealing what looked like a medical dressing on the upper left side of his chest. This fueled speculation that he may have recently worn a heart monitor or another cardiac-related device.

Last month, Ray J revealed that doctors had told him he only has a few months left to live following a hospitalisation for pneumonia and heart issues. The singer was rushed to a Las Vegas hospital on Jan. 6 for treatment. In a Jan. 25 Instagram post, he said he “almost died,” but survived thanks to “prayers and support” from fans and loved ones.

“I was in the hospital. My heart’s only beating, like, 25 per cent, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be alright,” Ray J said. “So thank you for all your prayers.”

He later acknowledged that his health remains “not okay,” but expressed gratitude for his family and supporters. “Thank you to my mom, [sister] Brandy, and my dad, and everybody for helping me through,” he said.

In a separate livestream reposted on social media, Ray J disclosed that his medical team told him he only has a few months to live. “2027 is definitely a wrap for me,” he said. When a friend questioned his claim, Ray J replied, “That’s what the doctor said!”

Pointing to his chest, he explained the damage to his heart. “I f---ed my heart up on the right side, right here,” he said, adding, “It’s, like, black. It’s like gun.” He also reflected on his past substance abuse: “I thought I had more weight. I thought I was a big [shot], so I could handle all the alcohol. I could handle all the Adderall. I could handle all the drugs, but I couldn’t. And it curbed my time here.”

At the height of his addiction, Ray J admitted drinking “four or five bottles a day” and taking “10 Addies” at a time. “I’m like, ‘Ain’t nothing happening to me? F--- it. I’m indestructible,’” he said. “Joke’s on me. Take care of yourselves, y’all.”

He also reassured fans about his family’s future: “My baby mama gon’ be straight, my kids gon’ be straight. If they want to spend all the money, they can spend it, but I did my part here.” He added, “I shouldn’t have went this hard, bro. I shouldn’t have went that hard. And then, when it’s all done, burn me, don’t bury me.”
