During Coldplay's concert in Ahmedabad, singer Chris Martin created a special moment for cricket and music fans alike by dedicating a heartfelt song to India’s pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, who was present at the event. Martin, known for his warm stage presence, called Bumrah the “best bowler” and referred to him as his “beautiful brother” before singing a playful and endearing song.

While performing, Chris cheekily remarked, “We didn’t enjoy watching you destroy England, wicket after wicket,” alluding to Bumrah’s impressive performances against the England cricket team.

He sang- "O Jasprit Bumrah, my beautiful brother, The best bowler in the whole of cricket. We did not enjoy watching you destroy England, Wicket after wicket.”

In a fun twist, Coldplay also showed a video clip of Bumrah’s lethal deliveries, where the Indian fast bowler was seen dismantling opposition batsmen with his sheer pace and skill. To top it off, the band displayed Bumrah’s signed Test jersey on stage as a tribute to the cricketer’s greatness.

This wasn’t the first time that Chris Martin had shown admiration for Bumrah. During Coldplay's concerts in Mumbai on January 18 and 19, Martin surprised fans by mentioning Bumrah’s name mid-performance. On Day 1, he joked, “We have to finish the show because Jasprit wants to come and play backstage,” leading the audience to speculate that Bumrah might make a special appearance. While the cricketer didn’t show up, the crowd cheered loudly for the unexpected shout-out.

Coldplay paid another tribute on Day 2 of Mumbai concert by showcasing a clip of Bumrah’s iconic dismissal of England’s Ollie Pope from the 2024 home series.

The final show in Ahmedabad, which coincided with India’s Republic Day, was live-streamed on Hotstar, allowing fans across the globe to witness this unique intersection of music and cricket.

Bumrah, currently the top-ranked bowler in the ICC Men's Test Rankings, is set to feature in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, starting February 19. However, with the bowler nursing a back injury, it remains uncertain whether he will play in the home ODI series against England, beginning February 6.

Bumrah’s remarkable performances during India’s challenging Border-Gavaskar Trophy tour in Australia, where he claimed 31 wickets and earned the Player of the Series award, further cemented his place as one of the finest fast bowlers in world cricket.
