BTS member Jin, also known as Kim Seokjin, recently touched hearts not through music, but by showing up unannounced to serve meals to victims of South Korea’s devastating wildfires.
On April 3, Jin was seen volunteering at a relief shelter set up at Gilan Middle School in Gilan-myeon, Andong City. The centre has been hosting evacuees affected by the widespread fires that scorched parts of the region. Jin, dressed in a grey apron, black hat and a face mask, kept a low profile, but was quickly recognised by locals and fans due to his distinctive eyes and calm demeanour.
His appearance was later confirmed by BIGHIT Music, the agency representing BTS. In a statement released through the label, Jin said, “I decided to volunteer because I wanted to offer even a small amount of support to those affected.”
The meal service was part of a relief initiative by Theborn Korea, a company founded by celebrity chef Baek Jong-won. According to reports, Jin was personally invited to participate by Baek, a close friend. Since March 28, the organisation has been providing over 300 hot meals daily to wildfire victims and emergency workers aiding in rescue and recovery operations.
Jin’s quiet contribution further builds on BTS’ long-standing tradition of participating in both national and global philanthropic efforts. Fans have widely lauded his gesture, calling it a testament to the group’s values beyond music and fame.
Fans are eagerly awaiting BTS’ full return. At a recent press conference, HYBE CEO Lee Jae Sang shared updates on the group’s plans.
“The BTS members are set to complete their military service by the end of the first half of this year, and they will need time for preparation and production before resuming activities,” he said. “The company is also preparing by discussing with top-tier composers, but the artists themselves need time for deliberation and preparation.”
HYBE added that the group is actively shaping their future direction. “This goes beyond simply putting out an album. It involves establishing their next stage as world-renowned figures.”
