The actress opened up about the behind-the-scenes moment that many viewers never knew, adding new depth to one of Malayalam cinema’s most acclaimed films.

Popular Malayalam actress Meera Vasudevan is back in the spotlight — and this time, it’s not for a hit film or a power-packed serial.
The actress has confirmed her third divorce, sending shockwaves through the South entertainment circuit. Vasudevan, who married cinematographer Vipin Puthiyankam in an intimate ceremony in 2024, has now revealed that the couple quietly parted ways in August 2025, less than a year into the marriage.
Calling it a “peaceful phase” of her life, the actress said she has fully accepted the separation and is ready to move forward.
Vasudevan is no stranger to headlines, and her personal life has always run parallel with her professional highs. Known for her strong performances across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema, Vasudevan carved her place with films like ‘Rules: Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula’ (2003).
But it was Blessy’s acclaimed drama ‘Thanmathra’ (2005) that made her a household name in Kerala. And with the film came one of the most controversial and bold decisions of her career — one that continues to grab attention even today.
In a candid interview with Red Carpet, Meera revealed that she had initial reservations about filming the intimate sequence with superstar Mohanlal, especially after learning that several senior actresses had rejected the role because of it. Breaking her silence years later, Meera said:
“During the discussion, while Blessy was explaining the love-making scene, he said many senior actors had denied the movie because of this. I just asked him why this scene is required.”
The director convinced her by explaining that the scene was crucial — it was the moment her character, Lekha, realises that something is wrong with her husband Rameshan’s mental state. What followed, however, was an even bigger shock to Vasudevan.
She revealed that the scene was far more challenging for Mohanlal, who had to perform it “completely nude”. According to Meera, the legendary actor personally approached her before the take to ensure she was comfortable.
She recalled:
“More than me, it was even more challenging for Mohanlal. He went completely nude for the scene. Before the shot, he came and apologised to me if he was making me uncomfortable.”
Vasudevan insisted on a minimal crew for the sequence, and the team respected her wishes, shooting it with confidentiality and “integrity”.
As for her personal life, Vasudevan’s journey has been anything but smooth. After her Bollywood debut, she married Vishal Agarwal in 2005, but the marriage ended in divorce within five years. Her second marriage to Malayalam actor John Kokken in 2012 brought her a son, but they separated in 2016.
Post her second divorce, Vasudevan rebuilt her career through Malayalam television, becoming one of the most recognisable faces on screen. Love entered her life again in 2019 when she met Vipin on a shoot, leading to their marriage in 2024 — but now, that chapter too has closed.
Despite the turbulence, Vasudevan stands firm, reflective, and ready for her next act — both on-screen and in life.
