Hollywood actor Jim Carrey has married his longtime girlfriend Min Ah in a private ceremony, PEOPLE confirmed through the actor’s representative on Wednesday, September 30. The 64-year-old actor and Min Ah have kept their relationship largely away from public attention, with only a handful of appearances together over the years.

The marriage comes months after Carrey publicly acknowledged Min Ah at the 51st César Awards in France, where he referred to her as his “sublime companion” during his acceptance speech. Their appearance at the ceremony was among the most notable public glimpses of the couple.

Who is Min Ah?

Min Ah is an actress and artist based in Los Angeles who has also been identified publicly by the name Minzi. Unlike Carrey, whose career has made him a fixture of Hollywood for decades, she has maintained a relatively private profile.

Details about her personal life and relationship with Carrey have remained limited. The pair were photographed together in Los Angeles in February 2022 after attending a charity comedy show hosted by Judd Apatow at Largo. The appearance offered an early public glimpse of their relationship.

They were later seen together at the César Awards in Paris in February 2026, where Carrey received an honorary César. The event marked a more public appearance for the couple, with Min Ah accompanying the actor alongside his daughter Jane and grandson Jackson.

Jim Carrey's public tribute to Min Ah

Carrey spoke about Min Ah during his César Awards acceptance speech, which he delivered in French. After thanking his daughter and grandson, he turned his attention to his partner.

"Thank you to my wonderful family, my daughter Jane, and my grandson Jackson. I love you now and forever. Thank you to my sublime companion, Min Ah. I love you, Min Ah. And finally, thank you to the funniest man I have ever known: my father, Percy Joseph Carrey who taught me the value of love, generosity, and laughter."

The speech gave the public a rare insight into Carrey's relationship with Min Ah, as the actor has generally avoided discussing his personal life in detail.

A relationship kept away from the spotlight

Carrey and Min Ah are believed to have been together for several years, although the exact beginning of their relationship has not been publicly established.

Their approach has been notably different from the highly publicised relationships often associated with Hollywood stars. Aside from occasional photographs and their appearance at the César Awards, the couple have largely stayed out of the spotlight.

Carrey has also spoken about his preference for a quieter life. During a 2022 interview while promoting ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’, he discussed the possibility of stepping back from acting and spending more time painting, focusing on his spiritual life and enjoying time away from Hollywood.

"I'm being fairly serious."

He added, "I really like my quiet life, and I really love putting paint on canvas, and I really love my spiritual life, and I feel like, and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists – I have enough."

Although Carrey later continued acting, including returning as Dr Robotnik in the ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ franchise, his comments reflected his desire to maintain greater distance from the demands of celebrity life.

Jim Carrey's previous marriages

The marriage to Min Ah marks Carrey's third. He was first married to Melissa Womer, with whom he shares his daughter Jane. The couple married in 1987 and divorced in 1995.

Carrey subsequently married his ‘Dumb and Dumber’ co-star Lauren Holly in 1996. Their marriage ended in divorce the following year.

He was later in a relationship with actress and comedian Ginger Gonzaga, his co-star from the series ‘Kidding’. The pair made their red-carpet debut together in January 2019 before their relationship ended.

What's next for Jim Carrey?

Carrey continues to have several projects connected to major Hollywood franchises and adaptations. He is expected to return as Dr Robotnik in ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 4’, while Warner Bros. Discovery has also confirmed plans for a live-action adaptation of ‘The Jetsons’ with Carrey attached to headline the project.

There have also been reports of a possible follow-up to ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’, the 2000 film in which Carrey played the title character.
