Speaking at the pre-release event of their upcoming film ‘OM’, Dhanush also congratulated Sai Pallavi on the release of ‘Ramayana’. He expressed surprise at the criticism surrounding her portrayal of the mythological character and recalled witnessing her devotion while they were working together.

“There is so much noise around her portrayal of Sita. I don’t understand it. Even during shot breaks, she would be praying constantly. She is someone with such profound devotion to God, someone with such a pure heart. She looks so beautiful and she is a great performer,” he said.

Dhanush recalls working with Sai Pallavi after nine years

Dhanush also spoke about his experience of working with Sai Pallavi again after their previous collaboration in ‘Maari 2’. Recalling their first association, he described her as a reserved person who rarely spoke when the cameras were not rolling.

However, their reunion for ‘OM’ revealed a remarkable change in the actor, according to Dhanush. He said he was impressed by her confidence, screen presence and understanding of the craft.

“She stood there as if she totally mastered the art of cinema. In her poise, in her expressions, there was so much confidence. It was truly astonishing. Playing this role was not easy at all, but she bravely took the chance and did it so well,” he said.

What is Dhanush and Sai Pallavi's ‘OM’ about?

In ‘OM’, Sai Pallavi portrays Nithya Reddy, a CBI officer investigating the illegal red sandalwood trade. The film's first glimpse offered a brief introduction to her character's personal history, including a devastating loss that becomes a driving force behind her investigation.

Her investigation also brings her into contact with characters played by Dhanush and Mammootty. The project marks another on-screen collaboration between Dhanush and Sai Pallavi following ‘Maari 2’.

Sai Pallavi as Sita in ‘Ramayana’

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ brings Valmiki's epic to the big screen in a two-part cinematic adaptation. The story follows Lord Rama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and his battle against Ravana after the latter abducts his wife, Sita.

The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. Produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, the project is planned as a two-part release.

The first instalment arrived in theatres worldwide on November 5, 2026, while the second part is scheduled for a Diwali 2028 release.
